Average rating 2.0 based on 1 reviewIf I could, I would rate it minus 10. There are three types of businesses. Ones you love to do business with, ones you must do business with and others you absolutely hate. The Halifax Water Commission is the latter. They seem to be on a mission to make people hate them and the head of that organization is the problem. Water rates have risen so much they now overtake even my electricity bills. There is no reason for these rises except for empire building. Contrary to their slogan, the people of Halifax do not want the best (read most expensive) water system in the world. We just need an adequate supply of clean, safe water. If you look at the capital spend of this organization in recent years it has gone crazy. This is not necessary. And in the summer, the cut off the water service to my property for two months, saying I did not use enough water to make it worth their while to temporarily connect me up even though the temporary water line they installed for my neighbors went right across my property. And did they not charge me for water service during this time. No. They still charged me despite me not being able to use the services. When I complained they said they would get back to me but never contacted me again. These predatory corporate policies should not be tolerated here in Nova Scotia. Water should be freely available as it is one of our advantages, not scarce like it is in other parts of the world. Scare tactics from Halifax Water misrepresent this situation and only use it to increase prices, decrease services and take advantage of consumers. Even the Utilities Review Commission , who should be advocates for consumers has sides always with Halifax Water. They should all resign. And, this thing with the new water meters, is all designed just to raise water prices more and charge extra for peak water demands, even though water consumption keeps dropping (due to increasing costs) in this land of plentiful water. The Halifax Region Council must do something for the consumer in all this. We can not stand more increases in the cost of water services.
